_ On February 7, 1975, an eighteen year old son -
of a wealthy Strongsville, Ohio, businessman was kidnapped
in the vicinity of his residence by one male individual.
The victim was placed in the trunk of the male's car, but
pater escaped by prying the trunk open and fleeing on
oot.
Subsequent investigation determined that RICHARD
GEORGE KRAVANJA was believed to be responsible for the |
kidnapping. Due to the local nature of the kidnapping,
KRAVANJA was charged with kidnapping by the Strongsvilie, .:*
Ohio, Police Department, KRAVANJA surrendered himself with °*
his attorney to the Strongsville, Ohio, police on the
morning of February 11, 1975. KRAVANJA was subsequently
indicted by a local Grand Jury at Cleveland, Ohio, and he
is incarcerated at the Cuyahoga County Jail on $50,000
bond,
During the course of the kidnapping, a mate
caller, believed to be KRAVANJA, telephoned the residence
of the victim and requested a large sum of money. A call
- was taped by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
with the consent of the victim's father and this tape was
listened to by the Special Agent who received numerous
telephone calis from a male caller on the evening of
January 4-5, 1975, in connection with a $250,000 extortion
of Mr. RANDOLPH A. HEARST,
Upon listening to the above tape, the Special
Agent advised that the voice’on the tape sounded like the
voice of the male individual who telephoned him on numerous
eccasions on January 4-5, 1975.
