' y Attached SFO teletype advises that John Joseph Scott was
located in Room 546, Hilton Hotel, San Francisco. Scott was
advised U.S. Attorney (USA) agreeable to immunity on harboring
charges. Scott voluntarily furnished some information prior to
meeting with his attorney. Scott claimed he and his wife hela
"almost as captives" by alcoholic son Walter Scott in Las Veaas Ve ee
apartment. He admits departing Berkeley, California, 6/17/74, and Rh
picking up unidentified female hitchhiker known only as “Katy”
whom they transported to unknown town in Ohio. While traveling to
~€ast coast with John Joseph Scott and his wife Louise, his son
Jack and hitchhiker Katy registered as man and wife.
USA's Office, San Francisco, advised that on 3/5/75, (radical)
attorney Doron Weinberg contacted them and stated he was retained
_by John Joseph Scott and would request a two weeks continuance of
Scott's appearance before FGJ. USA agreed to continuance. John
‘Joseph Scott indicated he would testify before gzand jury along
lines of above interview.
Las Vegas Office advised that Louise Scott reinterviewed
3/5/75, and characterized her son Walter as "absolutely crazy,
a drunk, and violent." She refused to discuss details concerning
trips to Pennsylvania and New York City. She stated she would be
willing to appear before FGJ. She showed great concern for
welfare of her son, Jack Scott.
On 3/5/75, Bill Walton telephonically contacted Portland
Office advising that all interviews with him, Susan Guth, and
Don Salera would have to be arranged through attorney Charles
Garry of San Francisco. . E*
Our San Diego Office advised Lynda Ann Huey interviewed 3/4/75 .p%
Huey denied knowing whereabouts of Jack and Micki Scott. She :
stated that the Scotts stayed at her house 2/26~-27/75, and that
when Jack Scott arrived, he advised that his father would
“probably have to go to jail due to the grand jury.” Jack and
Micki told Huey they would have to "drop out of sight due to the
. grand jury."
““The General Investigative Division has instructed the
San Francisco Office (SFO) to immediately initiate Federal Grand
Jury .{FGJ) action on remaining harboring suspects.
Our Buffalo Office advised 3/5/75, that Anne Randolph Hearst
and Donald Robert Moffett charged with misdemeanor violation
Federal narcotics laws by Drug Enforcement Agency, Buffalo, and
arraigned before U.S. Magistrate. Moffett and Hearst released
on $1,000 personal recognizance bond and preliminary hearing set
for 3/19/75. Hearst represented by attorney George Grobe of
Buffalo who has applied for return of Hearst's 1974 Mustang. In
view of misdemeanor charge, automobile will be returned. Copy of
address book and other personal papers of Anne Hearst obtained
and being evaluated by SFO.
Investigation continuing.
