an GENERAL INVESFPSSATIVE DIVISION wr ’ . HEARNZD SUMMARY San Francisco Office advises in attached a conference held with U. S. Attorney (USA) James Browning in San Francisco, 3/13/75, at which time the matter of Federal grand jury (FGJ) subpoenas discussed. Subsequently, subpoenas issued for Philip Kent“Shinnick (a Jack Scott associate) and Louise Scott {mother of Jack Scott) ordering them to appear before the FGI, San Francisco, on 4/10/75. Subpoenas forwarded to Newark and Las Végas with request they be served by Special Agents, | FBI, to aflow reinterview of Shinnick and Mrs. Scott when served. — The status of Jack and Micki Scott also discussed with USA Browning who will not at this time seek harboring warrants: : -' against them. Primary objective is the location of the three fugitives. USA Browning advised if their attorney, Charles Garry, would make them available and they would voluntarily furnish information which led to the immediate apprehension of the three fugitives, he would consider the possibility of not prosecuting the Scotts. USA Browning further advised he and USA Cattone, Middle District of Pennsylvania, will meet with Departmental Attorney a Brandon Alvey, Washington, D. C., on 3/20/75, at which time bye ae this case will be discussed noyal Investigative Divisio 5 will be represented by SAs a “38 — Milwaukee Office advised 3/15 nots ; Z voluntarily advised e knew Jack Scott during the academic year September, 1972 through May, 1973, at Oberlin. He advised most of the individuals who were friends and close associates of Scott are no longer at Oberlin. He stated Scott's "first and foremost defender" against the faculty and students at Oberlin, was Paul Hock, a teacher, brought there by Scott. He said Jay Weiner also a close friend of Scott's was considered to be "an incredible glory seeker," and the one person among all the students completely trusted by Scott. dvised Scott had “fantastic connections" with ine press which include Sandy Padive of the New York Daily News and unknown persons with the San Francisco Chronicle and the Detroit Free Press.
