He asked im what condition the van was. answered that the van needed body work, on the front end and doors, but that the engine had been recently overhauled. The caller stated that he would come over in about ten minutes or fifteen minutes to see the van inasmuch as he lived in the neighborhood, At approximately 10:45, a white male Mexican- American arrived 2: ERD csi dence, ona observed that he had been driving a ow four-door vehicle, possibly a Ford, year aded ye unknown. commented to this individual that to sea how the van ran they could go for a Tide. handed him the key and he_and the indi- vidual drove up to and returned, This individual appeared anxious to buy the van, but he stated that the windshicld was cracked and that it would be okay to drive it in the city but out of town, the California Highway Patrol would cite him for infraction of safety regulations. if he wan The individual then {fered $250 for the van, refused and the individual asked, “What is the Lowest price you will take? You know we are just migrant farm workers." GT 22023 that this individual pled poverty several times in the above fashion. This individual stated that he would be living in the area until May 15, 1974. 157
