ON MAY 16, 1974, THREE INDIVIDUALS, LATTER IDENTIFIED AS SLA MEMBERS WILLIAM HARRIS, EMILY HARRIS AND PATRICIA HEARST WERE THWARTED IN ATTEMPT SHOPLIFT OF MERCHANDISE AT MEL‘S SPORTING GOODS STORE, INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA. ONE SLA MEMBER FIRED APPROXIMATELY 30 ROUNDS FROM AUTOMATIC WEAPON DURING INCIDENT. INGLEWOOD POLICE RECOVERED COLT .38 SPECIAL CALIBER REVOLVER PREVIOUSLY SOLD TO EMILY HARRIS. THESE THREE ABANDONED THEIR VEHICLE AND IN ESCAPE COMNANDEERED TWO PRIVATE VEHICLES IN SUCCESSION. THAT NIGHT THEY KIDNAPED A YOUNG MAN, HELD HIM CAPTIVE OVERNIGHT, USING HIS VAN, ‘END PAGE ONE | NELOSURE RECS = TIS 200 yl 12 JUN 26 1974
