The envelope containing this letter is : postmarked Lyons, New Jersey, July 6, 1974, and is addressed to Panasonic at 1320 West Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles. Retur address on the envelope is "S.L.A." Contained in the envelope was a letter handwritten in red ink addressed to "The Great Gatsby, A Dark E." The letter consists of a nonsensical rhyme which states that PATTY HEARST is not the worst. The letter is signed “SPLASH, V.A.H. Building 53, Lyons, New Jersey 07939." Gee ae a ee Pasadena, California, Police Department, provided a similar letter received by MORTIMER MATHEWS, Mayor, Pasadena, California. The envelope containing this letter is postmarked July ll, 1974, Lyons, New Jersey. It is written in red ink also and contains approximately the same message.
