The purpose of requesting this film was s0 that appropriate personnel from the General Investigative and External Affairs Divisions and other FBI officials could make a determination if such film could be adapted . for television publicity on the Hearnap , fugitive matter. This film has been received at ‘FBIHQ together with the attached letter from KGO-TV, which letter has _ been acknowledged by our San Francisco Office. The material relating to the Hearnap case is contained ina 50-minute . video tape documentary entitled “Whatever Happened to Patty ; Hearst?" This film has been shown only in the San Francisco , area in August, 1974. The Laboratory Division advises that: - the copy of this tape is in’color but ‘shows better on- black’ and white television receivers. ; ; ; er a The video tape: portrays the Hearnap matter ‘in a c fast-moving detail beginning with the killing of Dr. “Marcus 3 ‘Foster in November, 1973, through events in Los Angeles in May, 1974. With few exceptions, the film is accurate, ; ’ thought-provoking, and professionally superior.
