KB86 239 Carbine caliber U. S&S. Carbine, Model M2, Serial
Number 7037436, with two clips
Also Submitted: Rifle case .
Result of examination:
Test bullets and cartridge cases. obtained from the
K86 weapon were microscopically compared to the .30 caliber
bullets, bullet fragments and cartridge cases previously
submitted in this case without effecting an identification.
An inspection of the K86 weapon revealed no
modifications similar to those noted on the four .30 caliber
carbines recovered from the debris of the burned residence
at 1466 East 54th Street, Los Angeles, California, (the scene
of the May 17, 1974 shoot-out). It is noted that these weapons
were .30 caliber U.S. Carbines, Model Ml, which had been modified
60 as to permit them to Geliver only controlled full-automatic
fire.
The K86 weapon 4s @ .30 caliber VU. S. Carbine, Model
M2 which is capable of delivering either semiautomatic or
fuli-automatic fire. Therefore, this weapon comes within the
purview of the National Firearms Act.
