Telephone Rm. — Director Sec‘y —— On February 19th Bott .Wyrick of "Newsday" telephonically contacted my office and indicated that he’had received "good information” from sources on the West Coast that arrests were imminent in the He:rnap case which would lead the FBI closer to the location of Patty Hearst. He indicated that one of these individ uals was a celebrity and another was an attorney who had become involved with the SLA subsequent to May 19, 1974, and that this matter was being afforded Director Kelley's personal attention. He added that he would like to come in and sit down and discuss the matter with Mr. Kelley. After discussing the current status of Hearnap with Mr. Gebhardt; Wyrick was advised that there were no arrests imminent in connection with the Hearnap investigation; however, we had interviewed nuraerous individuals, including some attorneys and some individuals who might possibly be considered as celebrities in view of the background of Patty Hearst. However, the FBI it was in possession of no information which would indicate that any arrests ” would be made in this matter in the near future. Wyrick indicated that he appreciated clarification of this matter and that he would so advise his repre- sentatives on the West Coast. RECOMMENDATION For record purposes.
