SCHAFER furnished the following concérning ’ this individual: ae % ~ Approximately two weeks prior to this date, SCHAFER answered an ad which had been carried in the weekend edition of a newspaper, possibly the “San Francisco Chronicle-Examiner." The ad, which had been featured under ‘the caption "Home 7 Services", set forth a telephone number that SCHAFER personally — ' «ontacted. The recipient of thisycallsidentified himself as MICHAEL BORTIN and advised SCHAFER ‘that he and "his pertner" would accept the job. On Wednesday of, that week, possibly _September 17, 1975, an individual identifying himself as MIKE BORTIN appeared at 1998 Union Street, alone, to commence painting the interior of the store. On the morning of — September'19, 1975, SCHAFER received a telephone cali from -an unknown party, possibly a male, who advised that BORTIN was sick at that time<and:.,would complete the job at 1398 Union Street when BORTIN, recovered from his sickness. Sao SO On September 23, 3975, BORTIN. returned to the store and completed the job. On thsame day, SCHAFER paid BORTIN © for services rendered by check dated September 23, 1975, payable to MIKE BORTIN for $105.00. This check, #843, was issued by the Bank of America, 286 Union Street. During the pericc that BORTIN=was working at the business establishment, 1998 .
