This concerns the trial of Patricia Campbell Hearst in a
‘San Francisco, California, on 3/9/76. z
F. Lee Bailey (defense attorney) continued his cross-examina—~
tion of Doctor Joel Fort (criminologist and physician) regarding
his past testimony that he (Fort) had been qualified and called.

Fort regarding tape of lecture entitled "Minds on Trial" wherein
Fort was extremely critical Of, American judicial system.
Bailey asked Fort if he “had “been dropped from the American |
Psychiatric Association and thie, Northern California Psychiatric .
»- Association. Fort stated he voluntarily left both associations.
—-- Fort testified that he was never,.fired by the World Health
Organization and United Nations. Fort admitted being fired by
San Francisco County because his views were too independent
from those of the police and other health officials. Fort
admitted telling the Hearst Family that some disadvantages and
injuries mightaccrue to the defendant because of a public
trial and that every ‘possibility of avoiding a public trial
should be exploréd. Fort was asked if he told Mrs. Hearst that
she should consult “a, third party because Bailey wants publicity.
