During November, 1946, = series of articles were published in the Los Angeles, California, “Examiner,” which vere written by Ruth Fischer. These articles exposed her brother Gerhart's connection with the Commmist organiza- tions and also involved her brother Hans Eisler. In one installment Ruth Fischer wrote that Hans Bisler followed Gerhart to America in 1955 and they met in New York ®ity. Ge ocumented that Bans traveled back and forth between the United Btates ani Burope, making severel trips to Russia to show his oon- tinwed loyalty. In another installment, Ruth Fischer wrote ahe tested Bans‘ degree of subservience to the Gommmist Party by telephoning him that he had new instructions and that he was to go to the corner of Rue Amsterdax and Place Clichy and there ewait a major she mew. ans agreed to thie arrangensnt. Upon another oocasion, Ruth Pischer reports Mans talked with her during the Moscow trials and, according to her, Hans became hysterioal with the thought that he and Gerhart might feature in one of the Moscow defendants’ long-winded accuss- tions. Hans Eisler begged Ruth Fischer to let it be known that for years they had no connections, since Ruth Fischer vas out of favor with the Cosmmist Perty. According to the highly confidential sonmrce, Eisler in 1945 maintained owe @ list of books whioh he apparently left in New York City. ‘The majority of these books related to atudies of the Communist ideclogy.
