September 15, GONFIDENTIAL DIRECTOR, FBI Re: HANS EISLER, wa. INTERNAL SECURITY ~ R ervicing the EISLERS, have all been alerted for any indication EISLER may depart from Malibu. On August 28, 1947 it was reported to this office that pistol shots had been heard at the EISLER residence earl, that morning. ‘Two agents of this office accympanied a deputy=sheriff to the MISLER residence and observed WANS AZISLER and his wife, LOUISE, @ subject showed the b entire residence. It was not possible to observe much although a large YA photograph of CHARLES CHAPLIN was seen. It is believed that the photo was autographed. It was later ascertained that the reported shots occurred across the highway from the EISLER residence. On September 2, 197, reread Malibu Home- owmers Protective Association, advised that the EISLERS had renewed their membership in the Association until the termination of their lease which ran until March, 1948. Spot surveillances will be continued and contact maintained with informants. The Bureau will be imediately advised of all developments. Very truly yours, R. B.
