Re menorandum Mr, Short to Mr. McGuire 3-25-59 which
recommended that bulky exhibit 100-195220-105 be reviewed and a
decision rendered as to the retention or disposition of the material
contained in the above bulky exhibit.
Bulky exhibit is phonograph record, one side of which
indicates that it contains a selection entitled “In Praise of
Learning,” with music by Hanns Eisler. The opposite side contain
a recording of "Rise Up,” with music by Hanns Fisler. The record e
indicates that it was putout by Timely Recording Company, 235 Fiyth
Avenue, New York City. New York letter Jl-12-47 indicates that the
record was received from one JS New York City on
L0-31~47, duised that the above record was one of a stack
of records z¢ ¢ had taken from an unknowm individual's apartment
located in-vicinity of et and jrd Avenue, New York City,
approximately 12-46. advised that at that time he was
working for a secondhand furniture buyer. “Bee
Bufile on Fisler in@icates that Mr. H. Graham Morison,
Executive Assistant to the Attorney General, was advised via letter
11-29-47 of Bureau's receipt of the above-mentioned record and was
further advised what each side of the record contained. This letter
sets: Sarék=.the Iyrics of "Rise Up” and indicates that the musigal
score and lyrics of "In Praise of Learning” appear as exhibit
Number 30 in the appendix of the pamphlet itgsued by the House
Committee on Un-American Activities containing the testimony on the
Fisler case. “
