Director, FBI Re: Reception at Los Angeles . te for Vice Presidant Henry A. Wallace I , 2/15/uh Infornant reported that EDsARD G. ROBINSON, motion picture actor, was master of ceremonies; that he read a prepared introduction stating that the meeting was & win-the-war gathering in honor of the Vice President; that the meeting was basically a unity meeting; that the Vice President was a synbol of such unity in that he was the ®champion of ths common man?y that for the purpose of winning the war all divisions on a .* politica]. basis should be eliminated ani that all forms of partisan politics should be buried for the duration ef the war. His opening remarks took about fifteen mimtes. an ; Informant reported that ROBINSON is a well-known follower of the Communist Party line and has taken part as sponsor and supporter of many Communist front organizations in Hollywood, such as the Hollywood Anti- Hazi League, Hollywood Theatre Alliance, Russian War Relief, ‘Motion Picture Democratic Comittee, Hollywood Democratic Comittee and others. Informant stated that MR. ROBI'SOK consistently lends himself as a front for Commnists jn the Hollywood section. He further stated that the following known Communists with outstanding records in that movenent were on the reception committee and sat on the stage at the meeting: ° PHILIP MW. CONNELLY LIONEL STANDER OSCAR FUSS DR. LEO BIGELMAN - HERBERT BIBERMAN ~ HERBERT K. SORRELL: . ‘Inforrant stated that follow ng }R. ROBINSON'S introduction a LR. HYATT spoke on the bond campaign, after which a play was produced. It was announced that this skit was sponsored by the Hollywood Democratic Committee, one of the leading Commmist front groups in Hollywood. Informant stated the entire content of the skit was an inter= pretation of the Communist Party line. The actors, about twenty-five in mumber, were from & show now running in Hollywood at the Assistants League Playhouse called "yveet the People." This is 4 play produced by HENRY MEYERS » JA GORKEY and EDJARD ELISCU, all writers in the Hollywood Studios and on the radio, ani are all well-knoen Communists. The skit dealt in a satirical manner with all those who opposed those Communist supported projects such as: Anti Poll Tax; National Service
