ee ete am dae can Bae ae te A at At nl ae a re: - Are we going to wart ° NO -- if the people of the U. 5., of Russia, of every country, make themselves heard. YeS -- if wo allow the bi-partisan coalition in Washington to keep on threatening Russia, increasing hysteria, intervening in other countries, building an ever-bigger military machine, by-passing and betraying the U, N., establishing e peacetime draft and compulsory military treining. These are acts of war, ana can only increase the danger. CAN we pet anywhere with Ruasiat Y2S -- we know we can, just as Roosevelt did. Apart from any other reason, because Russia lost millions of citizens in the lest war, and a mjor part of her factories, cities and railroads were destroyed. Russia, even 4{ she wanted another war, is noe where near ready. ; ° . Questions and ansuerd f ou U.S.A., U.S.S.R., and Wl, Why is hussia acting a8 she does? All Sussia's moves which have deen criticized, have been along her own borders. She is terribly afraid of another attack, due to our monopoly of the atom bomb, our son- stant denouncing of Russia as an enemy, our building up anti-Russian military power alongside her in Greece, Turkey, China, eto. She is acting defensively, right or wronte : Does the “Yallace movement condemn only J, S. volis whitewashing Russia? HO. “fallace and his sunrerters condemn any intervention in. other countries, any atternt to dominate them, any unnecessary reatriotions on civil liberties, whoever is responsible, dut our resronsibility is our own Government. And we could not greatly influence internal policies in Russia if vo wanted to. Nor have we the right to endanger American lives by pouring more oil on the raging fires of enti-Russian hysteria. . But what about the vetoes? kussie has used the “veto” in the Seourity Council of the U. N., more than any other na‘ior. The number of vetoes has been exaggerated. Many of them were repetition ~r issues already vetoed. And kussia's vetoes have deen mde when she felt her security endangered by a ma‘ority the U. Ss lined up against her. Anyhow, America nerself weuld never have foined the ''. N, without the veto provision. And Crechos lovakia? The recent change in the Crechoslovak Government was obtained by legal meane end approved by President Benes. Whether it was necessary, whether excessive police force was used, etc., are disputed questions. Regardless of whether we approve the change, it was made by the Crech peonle. No Russian soldiers, tanks or planes moved in. It was NOT like Germany's moves in 1936 and 1959. fe. ON CONTAIN we wy | $ And Finland? AT’ Sees | oars Ruseia has asked Finland to negotiete a militery alliance. No terms have been settled. Except as a deliberate addition to the general hysteria, we can see no reason to get excited. . fw Wavy —_ ay Ha Itely? -- and the Larshall Plant In Italy, the shoe shifts to the other foot.” Russia has not been intervening. The Italian Socialist and Communist ooalition are trying to win a free, democratic eleo- tion. But our State Devartment has served notice that it ~ill not tolerate a free election unless it goes our way. Ve openly bribe the Italians with merchant ships and en offer of Trieste. tre announce thet we will immediately out off all aid if the "left" wins. Yet we keep on niously saying that the harehall Plan is open even . to Kuesial “hat hypoorisy! This is the most clear-cut exrose of the true nature of the Barshall Flan -- not genuine aid but politioal and economic interference and domination. In its place, Mallace proposes & enuine, non-political plan to re- lieve a1 countries devastated by Germany and “apan, through the U. X. ~ DATE How about Greece? Russia did not block a U. N. investigation of alleged interference in Greece y Alvania, Yugoslevia, Bulgaria. But the U.S, dq would not wait for the U. MN. Com- mission to report. We jumped in single-handed with military aid to one of the most rotten, reactionary governments in Surope. Results have only deen to increase Greece's misery and the strength of the guerrillas. And the U. N. refused to approve the U. S. olaim that the Balkan countries had officially intervened in Greece. Even the U. S. did not claim that Russia had intervened. But certainly America did -- and does. .
