- Just about a veek ago I read the story of a convoy which was wiped out
on the foad from Bethlehem leading down to Hebron. It vas a convoy carrying
supplies to a settlement I had visited -- Kfar Etzion. And as I read that
story I recalled that on my visit to tvis settlement, a little girl six or
seven years old handed me a smali boucet of flowers and asked me to talce
greetings to the little girls in America. They wore rather faded flowers,
because the people at Kfar Etzion had to pet their water by truck from |
Jerusalem. I think of trucks leaving the city of reace, leaving Bethlehen
on their wey to “far Etzion -- 1 think of nvedless death -- and I think
of the little girl with the faded flowers and her greetings for the little
girle in America.
wie have betrayed that little girl, tie Jecish pioneers in Palestine,
and -—- no less importantly ~~ the Arab peoples who should be freed from their
feudal lords. They have been betrayed for the sake of oil and oil profite.
