Classes are always informal, and draw from and relate
back to, the students! experiences. In addition to discussions led
by the regular staff members, leading experts from the field of
organized labcr and from Federal and State agencies frequently contri
bute to the classes as visiting lecturers. The School's library of
six thcusund bovks and pamphlets, built up by the gifts of friends, is
eagerly drawn on by the students tc supplement their class work.

making the meetirgs interesting: fundamentals of collective bargaining,
negotiating centracts, and Labor Board procedure.

mevement in America from Colonial days to the present, with an
examinaticn cf labor's rights under New Deal legislation,

UNLON PUBLICITY: practice in the basic elements of a news
story, related tc repcrting for labcr papers. The mechanics of editing
a paper or pemphlet; mimeographing methcds; and the creating of charts
or publicity uses. Students write their cwn life stories
then in mimeographed form.
PARLIAMENTARY IAW AND PUBLIC SPEAKING: designed to show
students hew to run business-like meetings, and hew to get across ideas
in an effective manner. Class is conducted as a regular union mesting,
giving students practice in speaking and in parliamentary law.
