The school was also represented at the state conference on Democracy held on Lincvln's Birthday in Nashville; at the Berea Cclleze Student- Labor Conference in March; the spring conference of the Southern Mountain Workers at Knuxville; the meetings cf the Scuthern Con~ fercnee for Human Welfare Council, and the Tennessce Commcnwealth Federation Council. A class in music was given at the YwCA indus~ trial firlst summer school at Camp Merriewood, Sapphire, N. C. by Zilphia Hurton, music director at Highlander Folk School. Highlander's function as a center for progressive thcupht and action is attested-by the larze number of teachcrs, writers, journa- lists, labor leaders, sovernment cfficials, social workers, anl many other croups whe visited the schcol during the past six months.
