Of considerable assistance to Jfiss Lawrance are the seven New Orleans students who were sent to Highlander for intensive trainine. Two of the students have been employed for full we Di caw ides S a ag ee Mee See ee time union work in New Crleans and one is tie assistant edu- cational directer. The actual classes taught are cnly one part of the educa- tional program which includes a variety of other activities equally, if not mere, impertant. These insiude speaking te union meetings, Frefaring special publicity, writing educa- tional articles each week for the press, helping to organize a laber day parade, startirz a labor library, preparing mo- del report blanks for shop cormitteemen to use in dues cole lecticn, conducting forums, assisting each local union to set up legislative committees, writing and publishing a pamphlet on "How to Build Yeur Union," ete. The program has been in continuous operation from April te the present time. The experiment resulted in increased attendance at union meetings, increased dues ecllecticns, better recerds kept, publication of a shop bulletin, better understanding of the union, and increased loyalty to the cause of labor.
