iid The Summerfield Nursery Schocl, on the Cumberland Plateau, Monteagle, Tennessss, ja doing it's best BUT WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP The Summerfild Nursery School, which has operated with the help of the Highianucer Folk School since June, 1938, cares for about 20 children, aged 3-5. The school is open the year round, and welcomes all children free of charge. The parents of these children once worked in coal and timber. But now thut the coal is used up and the timber ia stripped, WPA road work is all there ia t92 turn to. Summerfield's 60 families live on barren land, housed in the shacks their grandfathera built--still without slec- tricity, without plumbing. In this community, children are the only riches. These Bonnie Carois and Johnnie Maes are indeed wall loved. Their {isolated life haa made them excessively shy, but they ares happy and bright.
