Confidential Informant Knoxville T-2, another
government agency, advised that LOUIS FRANCIS BUDENZ, .
admitted former editor of the Daily Worker, an East Coast.
Communist newspaper, and a former official of the Communist
Party, advised on November 21, 1952, that the Highlander
Folk School was pro-Communist, but BUDENZ did not furnish
further details.
The December 17, 1961 issue of the Knoxville
News-Sentinel, a local daily newspaper published at
Knoxville, Tennessee, contained an article reflecting that
on December 16, 1961, assets of Highlander Folk School,
Monteagle, Tennessee, were auctioned by the State of Tennessee
under a court decree after the school was convicted of —
violating three Tennessee laws and failed in appeals to the
State and U. S. Supreme Courts.
