garding the various technicalities of the airship itself. Commander
hosendah] advised that the only informatjon he had on Joseph Spach -
there at Lakehurst was to the effect that he was supposedly a United
States citizen, using an American passport, and that he had been treat-
ed at the Fitkin Memorial Eospital at Asbury Fark, New Jersey, immedi -
ately after the accident.
Special Agent Lee F. Kalone conducted an investigation rela-
tiva to the cheracter of Joseph Spach, who resided at 240-16 Alameda
Avenue, Douglaston, Long Islard, hew York. A&A neighborhood investiza-
tion revealed that Spach was considered by all who knew him, to bear
an excellent reputation.
Numerous people have written to the Board of Inquiry of the
Lepartment of Commerce, expressing their views as to the cause of the
disaster to the Hindenburg. An examination of these letters reveals
that 30% of them gave mechanical reacors for the destruction; £0! st-

vestigation by the board of inquiry of the bepartment of Commerce,
however, revealed no direct evidence that there was sabotage in connec-
tion with the destruction of the ship, and the definite cause for its
destruction was never really ascertained.
