The book is on the subject of the disaster whieh befell the dirigible “Hindenburg” at Lakehurst, New Jersey, in 1987. INFORMATION IN BUFILES: - Bufiles disclose that en 7-28-66, the auther af the honk A. A — / - X Hoe called the Bureau and spoke to Mr. Leinbaugh. Hoehling requested any ~ “help ean could give in connection with his book. Mr. Hoehiimng was advised VA that the Bureau did not investigate the Hindenburg disaster but did establish liaison ' 4 with the Nayy and Commerce Departments who did investigate the crash. (64-40100) EXAMINATION OF GALLEYS: The bound galleys of Mr. Hoehling's book disclose a number of ae to the FBI, none of which are derogatory. . The book is a fictionalized, blow-by-blow account of the last flight of the Zeppelin Hindenburg. It put forth the theo the giant dirigible was sabotaged by exploding a photographic flashbulb inside a drogen - 6e conc ; however, is pure speculation. The book contains nothing to prove any such oceurrence OBSERVATION: On Since this work puts forth a speculative, unproven theory concerning the Hindenburg disaster and since we furnished relatively little assistance to the author, it would be most unwise for the Bureau to comment in any way concerning this book.
