We Le BOEGH, Personnel Uanager, Lerner Shops, 35), kth Avenue, lew York City, made available records which revealed that the sub- ject ismwesently employed on a part-time basis with this company and hes hsen employed with the Lerner Shops since August 17, 1949, as a shipping clerk. Communist Party Activities On July 1h, 1948, Confidential Informant T-2, of known reliability, advised that HOVIE ZINN was believed to be one of a group of individuals selected from the 6th A.D., Kings County Communist Party as a fraternal delegate to the New York State Convention of the Communist Party. On Hoenber 29, 1948, Confidential Informant T-3, of known reliability, advised that HOWARD ZINN of the New York Council, American Veterans Committee, 139 East 57th Street, New York city, had written an arbicle entitled, "Self-Supporting Public Housing ~- Plan to Ease the Housing Crisis in New York -- Now. " The above article discusses in detail the housing problem and what should be done to supply adequate, low-rent housing for veterans and non-veterans in New York City. Tt is to be noted trat Confidential Informant T-l, of known reliability, stated on November , 1946 that the Steering Committee of the Metropolitan Area Council of the American Veterans Comittee, which is composed of all the chapters in the New York City area, has been dominated by Communists. On December 19, 199, Confidential Informant T-5, of known reliability, advised that HOWARD ZINN, 890 East 6th Street, New York City, was one of a group of individuals who filed notice of intention to file a claim against the State of New York as a result of the "riots on August 27, 19:9 and on Septenber h, 1949 at Peekskill, New York, ab the so-called PAUL ROBESON concerts. It should be noted that Confidential Informant T~6, of known veliability, advised that the "Peekskill disorders" of August 27, 1949 and Seotember 1, 1949 in the vicinity of Peekskill, New York, resulted as an outgrowth of concerts olanned by PAUL ROPESON in that area. This Informant stated that the arove concerts were held under the auspices of the Harlen Division of the Civil Rights Congress. Tt is further to be noted that the Civil Kights Congress has been designated a Communist organization by the &ttorney General and comes within the purview of Executive Order 9335. -~3-
