The FBI investigates the applicants for Federal Judge—_ ships, U. S. District Attorneys, U, S. Marshals and other similar offices 4 Coming within the Department of Justice. It would be the height of / impertinence for the Desartment of Justice to blandly investigate Supreme - a / Court Justices, for the Supreme Court is an independent body with no eo! connection whatsoever with the Department of Justice. As ip, Cummings , pointed out, no investigations were ever made of any of the present members of the Supreme Court, with the exception of Associate Justice wtone, and only then when he was a candidate for the Attorney Gere ralship and not for the Court. Thus, in the lisht of the facts, it becomes clear that to blame the FBI for not presenting the facts of ur.
