On September 20, 1938, MR. EUGENE BISCAIIUZ, Sheriff of
Ios Angeles County, telephonically advised that he and his son, who
is a student at the University of Southern California, are both ¢
members of Kappa Alpha. Sheriff BISCAIIUZ said that the local Chap- |
ter at the University of Southern California, knowing that you are of
a member of this fraternity, is very anxious to entertain you at 1 1A
@ luncheon at the fraternity house and the Sheriff's son had been
requested to endeavor to make these arrangements through the Sheriff.
SHERIFF BISCAIIUZ said that he appreciated that you were
very busy during your stay in Los Angeles, but that he knew the
members of the fraternity would be elated to have you as their guest,
adding that he also was very anxious to meet you while you are in
the city. .
SHERIFF BISCAILUZ is one of the popular public officials
in Los Angeles, having during the past several weeks been re-elected
to the position of Sheriff at the primary elections with a majority
of more than 500,000 votes, a greater majority than any other candi-~
date for public office,who was elected at the primaries, received.

her, saying that she had written to you during the past year regard-
ing matters of interest to her. She declined to give any other in-
formation about the nature of her business, but an examination of
the files in the Los Angeles office indicates that this woman has
been a subject of correspondence with you, Bureau file 62-407,
she having written first on December 19, 1936 requesting aid in
connection with some Government bonds which she claims her father
may have left you, and on January 13, 1937 she wrote to you about
the "real cause of cancer",
On September 20, 1938, the secretary of FRANCES MARION,
telephoned advising that MISS MARION wanted you te know that her
present telephone number is Gladstone 2336,
