Re: Reserve Status of the
Director in the U. 5S. army

I talked to Major Kelly of The Adjutant General's
Office and he stated the reason no letter was addressed to
the Director concerning the submittal of his resignation
was because his name had been placed in the General Assignment
Group which group ia composed of Department Heads and that
he coulc be called to active duty only upon the express order
of the Secretary of War.
Major Kelly further etated that he would be so
notified of his assignment to this group through regular
Army channels and that at that time, if he so desired, he
could submit hie resignation.
