INFORMATION CONCERNING h Of" Hl.
SAC Powers, Miami, telephoned and advised he had just
finished interviewing QW personally in the Miami Field Office
relative to the diary entry of SERENE Gatos March 15,
1949, indicating that had yviven some bad news concerning
the Director. Fowers stated that. seemed to be sincere when
he venemently denied ever having discussed with any rumors
of alleyed homosexuality and how such rumors damaged individuals
of prominence through unbased repetition. WD oeic that he
had never heard any such rumor concerning 6 rector and had
such a high regerd for the Bureau and the Director that he would
not have repeated such a rumor hed he heard it because he knew
in his own mind that such an allegation was patently false.

October, 1943, he had done volunteer work for the Democratic
National Committee. He worked getting literature with a
