world."”” On May 10, 1954, Honorable Herbert Brownell, Jr.,
Attorney General of the United States, awarded Mr, Hoover a
Certificate of Merit in recognition of his service as Director of
the Federal Bureau of Investigation for thirty years. On
November 13, 1954, Mr. Hoover was awarded the Cardinal
Gibbons Medal by the National Alumni Association of The Catholic
University of America for outstanding service to his country, On
May 27, 1955, President Eisenhower presented Mr, Hoover with
the National Security Medal for his outstanding service in the
field of intelligence relating to National Security. Mr. Hoover
received the Valley Forge Teachers Medal #1 on February 22,
1957. On this same date he received the George Washington
Award and this was the first time in the history of Freedoms
Foundation where in one day the Foundation presented two awards
to any one person.
