SEBIEC TL: FISCAL YEAR 1970 APPROPRIATION PHRASEOLOGY REGARDING DIRECTOR'S SALARY -- $42,500 John Kaminski, the Budget Officer for the Department, telephonically contacted the writer last night and stated that in connection with the amendiuent to the 1970 appropriation request being forwarded to the Congress, the Bureau of the Budget was incorporating in the amendment the Director's | new Salary rate of $42,500 in lieu of the $30,000 presently contained in such language ; I contacted Ben Tryck at the Bureau of the Budget with whom Kaminski hed dis -ussed this and learned from Tryek that the technicians at the Bureau of the Pudget with regard to appropriation language and phraseology have an #Sreer.ent with the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee that any phrase 1. zy changes should be submitted formally by the Bureau of the Budget to the Avp-ropriations Committee and this would include such items as the new salary ‘ate of the Director of $42,500.
