SOBLE denied that SPITZES' hasty departure from U.S. may have been connected with disclosures re KLAUS FUCHS or HARRY GOLD. SOBLE claims he does not know whether SPITZES acted for Soviets in U.S. During visit, BEATRICE SPITZ wanted to give SOBLE photographs taken at Albuquerque. SOBLE claimed photographs were outdoor scenes showing no buildings but claimed no © recollection as to what they did portray. SOBLE, when pressed on this point could nota dequately explain significance of photographs or why SPITZ desired them to be tfansferred to Soviets. SOBEE recalled that he had met SPITZES in NY in 1940 when introduced by ROBERT SOBLE but claims he had not met LOW-BEERs prior to Vienna meeting.
