On Saturday and Sunday, the 24th and 25th, at the Lafayette Hotel, the Joint Peace Conference assexbled at the invitation extended by the WiLP?, in which the following organizations participated: Association to Abolish ¥ar Fellowship of Reconciliation Fellowship of Youth for Peace Peace Association of Friends ‘in America Peace Committee of the Phila. Yearly Meeting of Friends Peace and Service Committee of (Hicksite) Phila. Yearly Meeting War Register's International, U.S, Section Women's Internaticnal League for Peace and Freeéom, U.S. National ani State Sections Woman's Peace Party Women's Peace Union of the Wostern hemisphere. At that Convention, cooperative plans were maje relative to the disarmament program to be put into effect the following year. . The opening meeting of the WILPF was kelgypn Sunday evening at the Play House, Dr. Anna Garlin Spencer presiding. The tcpic of the evening was “Ameri- ea's Next Steps Towards Peace". The speakers of the evening were Dr. William 1. Hull of Swarthmore College (see Imsk's Revort relative to Pacifist activities during the war), whose subject was "Disarmament"; Mrs. Imcia Ames Meal on "Arbitration" (see Lusk's Report relative to lucia Amas lead's Pacifist activities previous to and during the war). At this meeting, $1000.CO was raised to defray expenses of delezate to — wublin Congress. : Hannah Clotaier Eull, National Chairmen, presided at the Mo morning session. She is the wife of Tr. Wm. I. Buil of Swarthmore Collegs. : Some of the outstanding personalities who took pertinent int in the discussions of the Monday morning session were Jane Addarns, Madame Ramonit Eirschman of Eolland, Mrs. Berger wife of Victor Berger, Mrs. Norman Hapgood, Miss Boynton, Mrs. lucy Biddle Lewis of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lola liaveric Lloyd divorced wife of William Bross Lloyd, Eaily Green Balch (eee Iuek's Report, also see Socialism -4n Colleges by Voodworth Clum),all of whom are well knovm for their potent influence ‘in directing the thought and molding put’: cpinice. for abolition of Army and Navy, F.0.T.C., and the abolition of military training in schools ani colleges and for World Disarmament. . ~ . The outstanding feature of the morning session was tks presentation of the petition to President Coolidge, "To End War" through universal abolition of Army and Navy and complete dis.7.ament of the world, Miss Jane Addams led the dele- gation of eleven women who were chcsen to represent different sections of the country. Tt was discovered that there was no rei, white and blue ribbor. to tie the petition, md amidst muck laughter and applause it was stated that they would not let the D.A.R. ret ahead of them, and one of the delegates offered at the last mimte to go out and wat the ribbon to tia the pnetition in order that it would have the vatriotic atmosr- \ %~...
