“In your letter of September 9, 1949 the Laboratory's attention
was directed to the signaturesWILLIAM WHITTAKER, Butler, Pa. Although
the WHITTAKER signatures ware examined, there wis nothing of significance
found in regard to a comparison of the signatures with the known writing
ef My, and Mrs, HISS and WHITTAKER CHAMBERS. The two WITTTAKER signatures
appearing after the date "7-12-37" may have been written by the writer of
the tro signatures directly below, namely Mrs. WILLIS MORNEWECK, Unity,
Pa, and CHARLES MORNENECK, Unity, Pa, indicating there were four in the
party.
The registration book, Q162, is returned herewith to the
New Haven Division, photographic copies having been retained.of the 1937
entries.
