The Washington Field Office has advised that H. C. EATON, former
USNR Commander and Chief of Neuro-Psychiatric Service, the psychiatrist who
examined TIMOTHY HOBSON when the latter was discharged from the United States
Navy, was released from active duty on March 31, 1946, at St. Albans Hospital,
New York. His present address available to the Washington Field Office as of
May 9, 1949, was the Harrisburg State Hospital, Harrisburg, Pa.
You are requested to discreetly ascertain whether or not Dr. EATON
is presently employed at the Harrisburg State Hospital. This information is
desired by this office solely for the purpose of determining Dr. EATON'S where-
abouts in the event it becomes necessary to call him as a Government witness in
the forthcoming trial of ALGER HISS.
It is requested that this information be ascertained as expeditiously
as possible.
