Hiss today began his first full day
as an, ordinary convict in the fed-
eral penitentiary here.
The 46-year-old former State De-
partment official, convicted of per-
Jury, was transferred here yester-
|day from the New York federal.

year term. .
He made the trip in a prison bu~
|reau bus with several other pris-
joners, He was hustled into the
penitentiary, given prison clothes
and assigned to a cell in the orien-
tation section.
Warden .G. W. Humphrey said he
will remain in the section for 30
days. . .
He surrendered for his prison
térm last Thursday after the U. B,
Supreme Court refused to review
