| SAHA ATIN: FBI LABORATORY —
There have been received from Mr, HARRY L. MARTIN,
former partner of the deceaged THOMAS L. FANSLER, father of
PRISCILLA HISS, two letters located recently by him. The
first is a letter dated January 19, 1928, addréssed to Mr.
HORATIO H. MORRIS, signed THOMAS L. FANSLER, ‘The second is
a ictter dated November 10, 1928, addressed and signed in a
similar manner, .
It is requested that these letters be examined with
Specimens known to have been typed on the HISS typewriter, and
the New York Office advised of the results of the examination
for whatever use it might be in connection with the appeal of
ALGER HISS, presently pending.
lir, MARTIN has indicated that it is his feelinz the
letter of January 19, 1928, was written prior to the obtaining
of the Woodstock typewriter by the FANSLER-MARTIN partnership;
whereas, the letter of November 10, 1928, might well have been
uritten on the Woodstock typewriter.
It is not necessary that the enclosures be returned
to the Philadelphia Office.
