the pehitentiary wis concerned. FARNSWORTH first attempted to seaure the
necessary information through the Varden, and when refused, told Warden
HIVPTETY thet he wovld vet the information some »xther way. Thereafter,
TARNS*ORTH sent to several ex-empleyees of the institution and attemnted
to obtvrin information. He apparently met with Little success ond left a

Last week an article appeared in the Vashington newspapers by FAR“S' ORT on
ALCER FISS. The article contained almost nvthine of subschtaner, It aid con-
tein an interview with one WELLS, a former employee, and also contsined H
parezraphs concerning interview with WALTER FITSON (who is an official At
Boisrdi Steel in Milton, Penna.) According to the article WILSON hed taken ;
2 singing group of the Salvation Army to the penitentiary on one occasion,
to perform before the inustes, WILSON noted that one of the inmates sang
louder and with more guste tnan the rest, and when the singing wes over this
inmate came up and thanked WILSON for bringing the singine vroup to entertain
them. As the inmate valked away, LLSON esked a euard nearby who the innate

Warden HUMPHREY steted that the tenure of the article was that FTSS hed "turned
to God,"
Warden HUMPHREY stated that follovine the publication of the @bove article,
representatives of the American Broadcasting Conpany telephonically contacted
WILSON and asked that he do a re-ersctment of his seene with ALGER HISS for
the television cameras. WILSON advised these representatives that he had no
suthority te do any such thing and that he wonld not even permitted throuch tr
rate of the peniteatiary unless the warden so desired. ‘YILSON then informed
Warden HiMuPHREY of his call.
On Novembe# 2, 1952, a cameraman ond another emnloyee of the ABC e& Lied on
WILSON athis home and 22ain tried to ert him te co with them to the penitent
to re-enact the drama {°) deserihbed above. ‘ILSON again refused. They pere
