Cleveland to Chancellor, Secretary: Wirtz was interviewed by Liaison 8/5/65, for approximately the past year, having had between 15 and 20 official-type meetings with him, These meetings were in the nature of a Government official being interviewed by a news reporter, Secretary Wirtz explained that he has been in Chancellor's company socially on but two or three occasions in the private homes of mutual friends, Wirtz commented that he was very favorably impressed by Chancellor and on the basis of his contacts with him would unqualifiedly recommend him for a position of trust in the Government, He stated that Chancellor is highly reliable, vt of good character, and has impressed him as a person who is 41 completely loyal to the U. S.
