INTERVIEW WIT: Sr ®I did hear something about the in-°
(continued) jumction placed by the federal court,
but as I was no longer interested in
the Mine, and didn't ever see any of the mon, I knew nothing about it.
fT don't know any reason why so few men showed up for work when
they tried to opan the mine, except I knew that mst of the men were still
in: favor of the Progressives, I heard at the time, but don't know where
or how I heard it, other than that I heard it from members of the PMA
that a reason the FP Kk A men didnt show up at thc reopening of the mine was
because they felt the Management of the Mine was trying to gct the Dnited
local in thc Mine and keep the Progressive out. I dan'¢ imow anything more
about this, as I wasn't working there, but I kmow that some of the men felt
there might be a deal between the Management and the tnited, JT don't know
what the rcason for their thinking was, nor do I ever recall hearing what
the deal might have becn.
" T got a letter from the -ine company telling mé thet the Mine
was going to open afain, and saying that the Same job was open to every
man who fad worked there at the timc of the strike. I don't remember when
I got the letter, and I don't remember whether I got more than one.
"u.fter I left the Mine, IIost Just about all contact with the
Trion and the sine and the Men. Aside from thit first election at
which I voted, I had nothing more to do with it. « couple of years after
I left the mine, a miner whose name I can't remember, but who TI know was
a Progressive, told me that there was going to be another election, and
asked me if I wanted te come and vote, JI told him I wasn't in the union
any longer, and couldn't vote because I ha: dropped my membership.
"Before the alection of which I voted, I heard that both the
Unitcd and Progrcssives were active in trying to get votes. No one came
to See me and told me te come dow] and wote. JT saw in the pspers that
an election was to be held and went down of my own accord, I never heard
of any strong-armed methods being used by either unions anc do know that
no one approached me in regard to it. As far as I know it wns an honest
election, because it was run by the labor board, - .
®JT have had the foregoing read to me conSisting of approximately
cight pages, and state that cverything I said herein is true to the best
of my knowledge and recollection.#
