along. F.RRINGTON is now deceased. I felt that UM;
should be cleaned up and that the niners should not
bring in another union. I finally joined the Progres=-
sives at Mine B as all the others did. ‘Some PI. Conmittce tole me that
if I didn't sign over to PM. I would have to quit. Thzt night about 7
or 8 of us signed over. We were told to sign over which I did. I-
was given the UN; pitual tho instead of the PQ so in onc way really |
never was with PMA. I never took any a¢tive part in forming the PMk at
all as I was satisficd with the old UIS.. I was just about forced to
join over to PM., or else I had to quit so IT signed over, but I never
was beat up or anything like that,

tis far as I knov Pil. officicls got along alright trith the
nenagenent of Hine B. [ovever, I recail that neither the P.. officials
nor the company ifself gave out iwch information as to what vas
going on between 1932 and 1937 then the ifine B closed down, us far
as I know the Fil. officias got along with the managenent of Mine B. If
the Pit. officials did any crooked work in connection with the books I
don't know about it as I never hed accuss to their books, “hen I first
joined over to Fit. I attended a special and resular neeting but after
that I never attended any nore neetinzs because I neverapproved of the
idez of the miners splitting up like they did, that is, to have Fl. come
in and take over. I don't know what went on with those Fil. meetings as
after the split between UM’ and when Fou. cane in I never took any
nore interest in mine matters and just did ry work and went hone. ‘hile
with Fit. I don't recall of then ever assessing any spocial asscss.ents
except the deith benefits assessuents. I don't believe thet the Pit.
officials did enough for the miners to get then clean end fresh cir in the
ine. Hovever, this has not been remedied even since IN cane back to
Mine B. J never heard any runor about Pit. officials doing crooked work
with money etc. of the Local No. 54. I never heard anything wrong then,
"UMy men never set up a picket line st Mine B prior to the tine
the mine closed that I know of nor do I know of any leterature being
given out, ‘Before the mine closed CH..RL.S BOE,NNON, COTTON «N.NLS, a
NE AUGPTIN, TONY rLOTCH, and seve
eral others would go around in the Mine B and would talk to the miners
about going back to Uity but they never used any rough tactics at all.
They didn't have to talk to ue about it because I still at heart with.
wc even tho I had joined over to PM.. I don't know if tho above
nen received any salary from UST for doing their organizing work but
several of then did tell ne that they would get back from Uf’ noney ©
spent on phone calls and for car fare.
