"I got & Job at the Mine "BY sometine along in January of 1936.
Soon after I started woring Therc I was approached by three men on the
oompany proverty. I do not remember their names. They asked mc to doin
the Union. I teld them I wo:ld if necessary. I asked the Suncrintendant
if I should and he told me I should so I joined The Progressive Mine
Yorker's of Amzrioa. They took my dues right out of my pay chcek.
"I worked in The Reseil Yards and Tipple most of the time. I
worked below only & couple of months.
"I reoall when the strike occurred. JT had not heard any dis-
ion ebout 4 strike, and was surosrisead when the strike ooourrod. I
not know of any diffeoultics in The mine over wares or over discharging»
d no idoa about what the strike was all clout until after the strike.
I do not remember what was told me about why the strike was caused. I did
not stuy around the mine muei after the etrike was culled.
