Things were better after that. I never was an officer of the Progressive
wine «orkers, but I attended meetings about onee a month. About 50 to 100
men attended meetings regularly. On special mcectings a lot more men came to
the neetings.

he got along alright with both tho UMT and the Per,
"I was always satisficd with the Progrcssive Mine “Jorkers. I liked
the union. I had no complaints ebout the way Tf wis being run, nor about
the cssossments, check offs or anything else, I think most of the men at
the mine likod the FLA of execpt about 12 men who wanted to change the
mince over to the Unitcod Mine ‘orkers,
"I recall tht before the strike in May 1937 therc had been some
