"Tl don't remember how 1 received a notice that Mine 3 was to reopen in September 1937, but I remember that when I went out to the mine, the P.M, officials told me that we were not going to let U.N... men so into the mince. J stayed around the mune until the U. S. Marshall came and told us to get off the mine property. JI saw only jtinec B men at the mine at this time. "In the election of 1937 I voted for P.u.a. becausc I thouzht that the majority of the miners favored that union, From that time util I went hack to york in 1939 no one asked me to join the UMW. after I went back to work in 1939, some man whose name I don't know told me that everyone else was going to join U.M.i. and asked me why I did not join the U.N. I finally signed up with U.M.¥, because I thought that all the rest of the miners Were Signing up with U.i.. Everyone was saying that if we did not Slen up with U.i."., there would be no work. "T don't care to which union J] belong. One wion is just the same as any other wiion, JI think that all unions arc alike. "T never sav anyone beat up in the mine or on mine property, but I did sec a man in a hospital who was supposed to have been beat up in the mine. I don't knov why the man was beat up. "At present I am working in [fine a, having been transferred from ine 3B where there were not enough rooms for the miners to work.in,.
