"The day after my tools were stolen I decided I wanted to go into the mune and see for myself what happened to tools. He the Tt got away from all of chem. I was dresscd only in my underwear and was bare-footed but I ran out of the wasn house and into the yard, The ground was coversu ‘ith ace at this time. [I met FaLCEITI in the yard and told him wiat nad happened. He toosk me into his office auc told the Sheriff to take mc ever to the wash house to get my clothes. Under the Dheriff s protection I changed my clothes, but this protection was then unnecessary because the group had already broken up. ruck at me, but "The next day I came back to the mine and some of the men were complaining that their clothes had beencut up, So the Sheriff and I went into the wash house. I looked at my clothes and my shoes and everything yore cut into ribbons.
