"I never heard anythin: about any UMW spics in PMA. J did not
attend a PuA necting on May 11, 1937, the night before the strikes
"on May 12, 1937, I went to work as usual as a digger. In the
early afternoon the driver told us we were to come out. I did not know
why we werc called out but I hoard later that the President of our PMA
local called us out because the company refused to fire some men who had
organized a UMW local. These men weres Joc Albanese, Andy Schrelevioua,
Dominic Fasqualc, Fete Carter, Frank Austin, Tony Plotch, a Jacaway,
Bowling grcen Bohannon and Jim Hale. I went right home on May 12, 1957 and
came back to work the next day, but we never went down into the mine and
I heard we would not until these men were cithor fired or went back to PMA.
IT heard there was also some rotroactive wage trouble at thia time, but I
did not think thot was the reason for the strike.
"At no time after May 12, 1937 was 1 ever notified to come to work
at Mine "B™ until in Nov. of 1939, I kmow therc was 2 picket line at Hine
"BY by PEA in absut Sept. of 1937, but I was not out there the day it
startec, and I was in it only about two days.
"Durine the summer of 1937 I remembor I signec either two or threc
FNA petitions, I never signed any UMy petition, I nover attended many union
meotinzs because I lived so far away, ond I do not remember attending any
meetings while the Minc "B” was closed.
"In Nov. of 1939, I sot notice from tho Company that the Mine "B”
was going to rcopen, and so I went back t> work there. I g>t my old room
back. I was still a member of PMA ond nothing was said to me about unions,
"Prom tho time I went back to work in Nov. of 1939 until I joined
UM. after Feb, of 1941, no ono at any time over tricd to get me to join
UL. in any way. I was never forced or threatened in any way anc I did not
see any organizing going on out there. I hoor a and
were organizing, but I never saw them organizing.
“I never saw any fizhts but one, wher Sy
fought one day. But I do not know why they were fighting, I heard some men
were beat up but I never saw any of this,
"I voted in « National Labor Relations Board Election in about
Dec, of 1937 when FMA beat DMV. I thought it was a fair eloction and no
one forced or throotened me in any way, I also voted in the NLRB oleoction
in about Feb, of 1941 when UM won, I was not forced or threatencd in any
