The understanding of the men at this meeting continue was that if we didn't get mine "A" opened and go back _ to work there we wouldn't have any work and the only way we could get to go back to Mine "A" was as U.M.W. Ray Edmundson, talked to us at this mecting and assured us that ovr rights would be fully protected. It was the understanding then that if we went back as a group we wouldn't have to pay any inietion fec. There was a standing vote at the meeting and most of them voted to join U.U.W. and get back to work. I did not belong to any committees appointed at this time. I voted to go U.M.W, because there was nothing else I could do at that time if I wanted my job at Mine "J", It was our feeling that if we didn't go UUW. there would be the same sort of trouble there that they had had at mine "Bt, I did not go to Edmwundsons office or the Leland Hotel the night of the meeting. There were cards at this meeting and wo signed up right there. The mine opened shortly after this meeting. I did hear thet FElshoff didn't have any money, but I dont knov how he got the money to buy Mine "A", tSincc 1941 under the U.U.N. the dues I believe have gone up over what they tere under the P.L.A.
