Then J becama a member of the Kine Committee and was on it for about four or six months before the Mine "A" ehut down in the Spring of 1942. “In about Sept. of 1941 we learned thet Elehoff had bought Hine "A" from Kyan and then we became worried as to whether Mine “a™ would onen and we of FIA would be given our jobs. There wae talk among the men that Elshoff vould operate Mine “A thru Wine “p", and that we of PHA would therefore not get our jobs back. “In Sept, of 1941 I was working thé night shift et the ra rer in Svringfield, and so had little time to go to Union meetings. At a regular Fl-A meeting early in Sept. 1941 marr of the fellows expreseed the desire to go back to work at bine *4A" and indicated they would go back to UM. At this meeting they decided to hold an “outside” meeting, that ie a meeting away from PMA.
