At the Office of the Springfield Field Division Agents interviewed
JOHN GROH, Pawnee, Illinois, who furnishec the statenent mentioned herein.
In regard to the exhibits mentioned in his statenent fram JG-1 to
JG-19 inclusive, it might be stated that the, are being rctained in the ex~

hibit section of instant case and are not beinz sct forth in detail as it is
felt thet other reference has been made to the reports and affidavits in
interviews with other officials and miners,
In regard to these oxhibits, Mi. GROH meaquestiod that they be returned
to hin after instant case is diaposed of.
GROH also adviscd that back in 1910 he ahot a rabbit in Pawnee,

Tllinois and that a ncighbor thought he was shooting at him so the nel zhbor
got a warrant out and the. Police at Pawnee, IUinois arrested him but did not
put hin in jail and after thc mattcr was oxplained the warrant was dismissed.
He further said that in 1932 or 1933 the Sheriff of Sprin; gficld, T1i-
nois cime to his home and arrcsted him on an assault and bettory warrcnt and
took him to the County Jail where he was held about 20 mimtcs and was then
rcloased on bond and was bound over to the Grand Jury. GROH said he was not
necor the seene af the assault and battery but wes in another town and had -
nothing to do with the case, He further seid he nover heard anything further
about the casc and never was indicted or tried.

It was noted that JOIN CROW 4s an intelligent individual and he speaks |
4n a clear tonc and is reedily understood. He advised he is willing to co
operute to the fullest extent and will testify if necessary. It is felt that
hy would makc a very good witness and ha said he can testify from his recol-
lection and also from the reports and affidavits and notes which he turned
over te Agents. It might be stated that GRO! had given the above exhibits
to ¥r. SCYNETDER of PRA who brought them to the Springficld Ficld Division
a {fw days earlier in order that they would be availble when Bir. GROH came
to be interviewed, In regard to these exhibits and copies of affidavits,
Mr, GROH put his initial plus the mumber and date on each report or affidavit.
