Mr, REED advised that the arrangements eet forth above
continued mtil November 6, 1939 at which time the following changes
were made;
1. & sales to Railroad where Peabody carried the
accomnt end paid the sales tax, KLSHOPF was dlousd
a fiat 10 cents per ton,
M& sales to railroads where KISHOFF carried the
accomt and paid the sales tax, Peabody aliowed
hin &f of the sales price to the customers,
2. M& ali sales except to Railroads, Peabody allowed |
ELSWOFF Gf of the sales price with a simimm net
commseton of 10 cents per ton,
It will be moted that mo allowance was mde for sales
tax in eny of the price arrangemnts entered into.
Novenber 6, 1939. It will be further noted that 2

Mr, REED explained that the commission allowance to
ELSHOFF waa reduced st this time because Peabody found it conld dis~
pose of all its coal without selling any of 4t through a broker. Ge
yelated that selling coal to ELSHOFF was beneficial to Peabody whan
market was Siow, even though Peabody did not make any money @ the
deal, This benefit, he said, was the result of being able to operate
pecensity to Bell to ELSDOFF at the old rates,
his records showed that very Little coal was sold by Peabody to
